Bombers Win Big in Home Opener

February 27, 2010 - St. Louis, MO -  The Bombers overwhelmed visiting Kansas University Men's Club 85-0 in a WRFU cup match played on a chilly, breezy day at SportPort.  The Men in black ran in 13 tries, led by wing Tim Stolarski's first half hat trick.  Center Scott Smith and halfback Matt Skarin each added a pair of tries.

Bomber captain TJ Ebner opened the scoring from a counter attack, quickly followed by tries from hooker Tim Basler and lock Justin Heinrichs to jump in front 19-0.  The outside backs benfitted from strong forward play and the distribution abilities of flyhalf Paea Kaivulata and Ebner by scoring 5 more tries before half.  Fullback Jeff Rehder and Smith both scorched KU with long range tries before Stolarski went wild with 3 tries from powerful runs to put his team up 52-0 at the break.

The Bombers cleared the bench in the second half, giving several new players a chance to contribute.  And that they did.  Replacement halfback Matt Skarin wasted no time getting into the try zone with a slicing run from midfield.  Wings Paul Deutsch and Adam Pyke finished off tries to push the score to 71-5.  Scott Smith and Skarin added their second scores of the match to close out a convinicing 85-10 Bomber win.
