DIII Season Opener

Clear skies, a cool breeze, and temperatures in the low 70’s, you couldn’t ask for a better day to enjoy some good ol’ rugby. On Saturday the Bomber’s DIII team opened up their season against Kohlfeld on the Bomber’s new home field at Lucier Park. The Bombers had lost to Kohlfeld twice last season by a combination of 10 points and were determined to not let that happen again. Both teams came out strong and fast but the Bombers were the first to strike. Tries were scored by Dan Kloeckener, Ryan Schulz, John Pearson, Mark Menne, and Alex Ochoa who scored 5 of the Bomber’s nine tries. Conversions were made by Mark Menne(3) and James Sills(4).  The Bomber’s defense kept the game on Kohlfeld’s side of the field and only allowed 8 points for the final score of 59-8. This was a great start and victory for the Bomber’s DIII side. The Bomber’s would like to thank our sponsors and everyone that came out Saturday and hope you continue to come out and cheer on you St. Louis Bombers. Check out photos from the game here.

Next week the Bomber’s DII team travels down to Memphis, TN to kick off their season. The DIII side game against the Crusaders has been cancelled for next week. You can check out the rest of our schedule for the year by clicking here and don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook for any updates.
