Return to Play Starts Today!

Starting today, June 15th, 2020, St. Louis County has reopened adult sports at a limited capacity and just in time for the first rugby practice of the season starting Tuesday June 16th.

While the state of Missouri has lifted all restrictions we still have to abide by both St. Louis County and USA Rugby guidelines to host an official practice session.

The St. Louis Bombers have setup a web page https://www.stlouisbombers.com/covid-19/ with all the regulations and guidelines both players and staff must follow if they wish to join a practice session.

Key points:

  • All players must read the guidelines and understand the risk involved
  • Everyone will have their temperature check before entering practice
  • Social Distancing of 6ft or more
  • Everyone must self-report and be symptom free for at least 14-days

The club will begin to phase into practices this week with some light training that will be in accordance with the guidelines and conditions imposedPractice is planned for this Tuesday 16th June, 6:30pm at Steger Middle School.
Please note that coaches and administrators are required to take the COVID awareness and player welfare course… and it has also been recommended that all players also take this course to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. For anyone planning to return to practice this week, please take the quick course.

Rugby on Hold ;(

To all Mid-America GU Members:

Given the current environment and concerns for the safety of our community, we will be postponing all Mid-America GU rugby activities. The GU Board of Directors have voted and due to the rapidly changing landscape surrounding the Covid-19 ( Coronavirous ) pandemic it will cease all rugby activities until March 31st, 2020. At this time, and prior, the BOD will be closely monitoring suggestions from USA Rugby, the CDC and Local Health Organizations to determine the best and safest course of action for our players, coaches, referees, fans and supporters. We will also be working with the Frontier Competitions Committee and USA Rugby to determine how league matches and playoffs will work upon return to play.

This was a difficult decision to be made, but as we constantly promote safety on and off the pitch, the safety of our members health and well being made this decision the correct one. Please make all necessary arrangements to cancel field rentals, trainers, socials, travel plans, etc.

While we can not enforce a “no practice” policy, we do discourage it during this time. If teams are going to practice please follow the guidelines put forth by USA Rugby and the CDC. (link)

Please be safe and take care of yourselves and families.

Sincerely,
Mid-America GU Board of Directors
